Interns
North Avenue Day Nursery welcomes any student who is looking to further their early childhood education. We partner with a few local colleges and often speak with the teaching staff at these colleges in order to make them aware of our services and what we have to offer for their students. North Avenue feels that while the college interns are learning from our center and teaching staff, we are also learning from them. A few of the colleges that we have worked with in the past are: DePaul University, Erikson Institute, Kendall College, and National-Lewis.
Volunteers
North Avenue Day Nursery accepts all forms of volunteers. We encourage parents, community members, high school and college students, and all interested parties to volunteer at our center. North Avenue is open to volunteers during our business hours, which are Monday thru Friday from 7am to 6pm. When a person shows interest in volunteering they are given a tour of North Avenue and handed a volunteer orientation packet. This packet includes items such as: Our history and philosophy, the discipline policy, the basics of child interactions, the dress code, etc. From there, they are given an assignment in which to volunteer.
