From the Board of Directors of North Avenue Day Nursery

January 2017

It is with heavy hearts that the Board of Directors of North Avenue Day Nursery announce the closing of NADN after 108 years of serving our community.  Despite our wonderful staff and teachers, with our top accreditations in place, and with the will to continue providing our service, we were unable to counter the demographic changes in our service area and difficult operating conditions currently facing most social service agencies in Illinois.

NADN closed on December 23, 2016 for the holiday break and did not reopen in 2017.  Our parents and staff were given 60 days’ notice to allow for the relocation of the children.  We worked with parents to get the children placed at other agencies and our efforts were quite successful. Employees were given severance packages based on their years of service.

We have all been part of 108 years of proud service to our community.  We thank you for being a part of our history.
